On April 18-20, 2022, practical training was held for the officers of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, nominated to work in the Air Traffic Control Group (SCA) at the Zhetysu customs post of Almaty International Airport within the framework of the Global Program of the United Nations Office on Drug  (UNODC) and the World Customs Organization's (WCO) Container Traffic Control Program (CTCP).

The SRC of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan was represented by Mr. Mukayev Bekzhan, the Chief expert of the Department of International Cooperation and officers of the ATCG at "Zhetysu"  customs post of the SRD in Almaty.

The purpose of this event is to strengthen the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of officers of the SRC of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and members of the PCG for the identification and inspection of high-risk cargo using modern methods and systems of customs control. The expert of the WCO, Mr. Karamzhi Bolina, was invited as a mentor.

The main function of the ATCG is to control air cargo transportation in order to minimize the use of cargo and other means of transportation for drug trafficking, transnational organized crime activity and other forms of illegal trade, while respecting legal trade and promoting aviation security. With the supportof UNODC and WCO, officers of ATCG received theoretical and practical training on customs control in the field of air cargo, risk indicators, methods for detecting any type of contraband (restricted in circulation, prohibited goods), as well as measures to combat internal threats to identify high-risk cargo, using special analysis methods, information support and exchange of operational information.
